Northfield Public Library: How to Use the Library: Getting a Library Card

To check out library materials you will need a library card.

Here's how you get a card:

1. Come to the Library with proof of residence within Northfield or SE Minnesota

• I.D., such as Driver's licence OR Student I.D., OR a Resident Identification Card
• We also accept a bill sent to your address in combination with photo identifcation

2. Fill out an application form at the circulation desk

• These forms can be downloaded and filled out before hand:
  • Adult Library Card Application
  • Children's Card Application (Under 16)
  • College Student
• Children under 16 can apply for cards with a guardian/guardian signature

Your card will generally be accepted at other libraries in MN, but you will have to register your card with these libraries. 

To replace a lost card, we charge a replacement fee of $2.00
